🙋♂️Hello, I am Alejandro León, a Designer, Developer, and Entrepreneur 🤯. I love the craft of design and the amazing things we can build with technology. 🚀
✏️ Recent projects in which I am involved:
AR Toys & Games
🌈 Concepts & Visual explorations:
Fractals & DOF
🥳 Well, sometimes I just make things for fun:
A button's tale
A design tool that works just like Sketch or Figma, but in a 3d space. You can easily create 3d objects the same way you do it in 2d.
🍄 Because everything is in 3d, you can do things that normally would be really hard for traditional 2d design tools.
Fragments.pro is a repository of the most popular design/art/tech news so you can see at a glance what is happening in the world.
Some feeds include pictures 📸 to easily preview the content, this helps to understand global visual patterns and trends.
Pixel art icons from a diverse selection of wildlife animals, with species from most of the animal groups in the world.
Synchrony is inspired on physical exercises that put your brain to control simultaneous movements with both of your hands, also known as bimanual coordination exercises.
❤️ The game was built with Unity. It was my first time publishing to the App Store. I learned a lot!
PleIQ mixes real life objects and activities with Augmented Reality, making learning a fun experience.
🙋♂ I am one of the co-founders of PleIQ. 🤓 There is so much to learn when it comes to design educational content for children.
PleIQ apps are currently used in real life at homes and schools in Chile.
A UI design proposal for Godot, the open-source game engine, made in 2015.
The UI inspired the redesign of Godot, and many ideas got implemented around 2018 (github issue) with version 3.0.
Still, there is a lot of work to do for Godot in terms of design, and branding.
A casual game (mobile and desktop) with a geometrical design and funny mechanics.
Circuita is an icon font (pixel-based) that is intended to easily create circuits, with multiple design styles.
Avena & Canela is an ongoing project about two sisters who struggle to survive on their worlds. Here only Canela (Red Hairy Girl) is displayed.
Avena & Canela are the spanish words for Oat & Cinnamon. I have always love to eat both of these. Oats can be used to create a great variety of dishes, and cinnamons can always add a perfect spicy touch to drinks and food.
🥘 Both of them are almost opposite in terms of cooking, and so are the characters in the story.
Back in 2010 I discovered a peculiar pattern while playing around with Adobe Photoshop. 10 years later (2020) I explored the same idea.
These patterns are usually called "Turing Patterns" and they have a peculiar organic/growth feature. Different techniques can be used to generate the pattern, one of them is called Reaction Diffusion.
💡 I found that by rotating an image using bilinear interpolation (like in Photoshop) a small distortion is applied. If the transformation several times you will start noticing how the pattern emerges.
☯ Usually, turing patterns are displayed as black and white or monochromatic.
🌈 On this technique, the distortion mixes the color of the pixels, and new pixels arise, resulting in a polychromatic turing pattern.
